Monday, November 03 “Tangancícuaro” (Rocío)

After traveling through Mexico for 13 weeks, I made it to my hometown! Tangancícuaro will always be my first “home,” and I was so excited to reunite with my family and friends, eat my favorite foods and walk along familiar streets. I’ve been amazed by Mexico in the last few months, and it was fitting to end my travels in the town I love most.

Every day, I get to spend time with family, shop at the local market, enjoy snacks at the plaza and live life at a much, much slower pace than I’m used to. I love it! I feel calm and happy.

In the next few days, I’ll write a longer reflection about what this trip has taught me. However, right now I’m cherishing every chance I get to hug a loved one, every favorite food I get to eat, every conversation I get to have with someone who asks about my mom or dad, every walk around town I get to take and every slow evening I get to enjoy sitting at a bench in the plaza.
